Former Minister of State for Crime and Policing (2019-2022) and Deputy Mayor of London for Policing and Crime (2008-2012), Kit is one of the most experienced criminal justice policymakers in British public life, with deep roots across policing, the judiciary and the security services.
He latterly served as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and member of the National Security Council, before serving as Secretary of State for Education.
Before politics, Kit founded and built a successful finance business from the ground up.

Ian Stevenson is a technologist and serial entrepreneur with over 25 years' experience bringing complex technology to market in high-stakes environments.
He co-founded Cyacomb (formerly Cyan Forensics), a digital forensics company whose tools enable law enforcement to find evidence of child abuse and terrorist activity on suspect devices in minutes rather than weeks. Cyacomb was recognised by the UK Government as offering game-changing technology, and was named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer.
Ian chairs the Online Safety Technology Industry Association and was awarded an MBE in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to online safety. He holds a first-class degree in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering from the University of Edinburgh and is a Chartered Engineer.
